A severe snowstorm has hit large parts of the United States, throwing normal life completely out of gear and leaving millions of people struggling to cope with extreme weather conditions.
Heavy snowfall, freezing rain and strong winds have affected several states, turning roads into ice sheets and making travel extremely dangerous. Many highways were closed as vehicles got stuck and accidents increased due to poor visibility and slippery conditions.
One of the biggest impacts of the storm has been massive power outages. Heavy snow and ice brought down power lines and trees, leaving hundreds of thousands of homes in complete darkness.
In some areas, people were forced to spend long hours without heating during freezing temperatures, increasing health risks, especially for children and elderly citizens. Emergency services were placed on high alert as rescue teams responded to distress calls.
Air travel was also badly affected. Thousands of flights were cancelled or delayed across major airports, leaving passengers stranded for hours. Schools, offices and public services were shut down in many regions as authorities urged people to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
Officials have declared emergencies in several states and warned that the situation could worsen as temperatures continue to drop. Weather agencies have advised residents to prepare for extended outages and difficult conditions until the storm passes completely.
