Forget about the violence taking a downtrend, the incidents are seeing a big uptick. Since the past few years, the violence has been increasing.
Now the first big step has come into effect in the United States in dealing with gun violence. The US started the new year with a big step as the law that prohibits carrying guns in most public places in California came into effect. It's been a couple of days since the law came into effect.
A federal court created a path for this by allowing the law which says that carrying firearms in most places is prohibited. During the process, the court ruled out the lower court judge's ruling. The Court said that the law would come into effect from the new year, which is January 1st.
The bill was signed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom back in September. However, the law could not get into effect as a concerned district Court said no to this. The Court said that by allowing the law, the rights of the people in the country to carry firearms would be affected.
But the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled out what the lower Court said on the law and allowed the law to get affected. However, we cannot have total relief as there is a threat of appeal in the further courts. It is said that the legal issues are not over completely.
As the new law talks about prohibiting firearms, public places were segregated into various categories. Like parks playgrounds and others and people cannot carry firearms there.
What happened in the US can be termed as the need of the hour. Due to no restrictions on guns, anyone can have a gun and poeple are creating a ruckus in the country. At regular intervals, we get to hear such unfortunate incidents. We have to wait and see if the new law can be the big step in dealing the gun violence.
