The recent nomination for the Andhra Pradesh MLC election, which concluded at 3:30 PM on the previous day, witnessed an extraordinary event that might be recorded as the most expensive nomination in the state's history. The focal point of this unusual scenario was BJP candidate Somu Veerraju, whose nomination process involved an intricate series of steps, including the need for special flights. This-stakes endeavor underscored the complexities and the lengths political parties are willing to go to secure their candidates' positions.

To be eligible for the nominated post, a candidate must have the A and B Forms issued by their party, bearing the signatures of the party's national and state presidents, as well as their own. However, a significant hiccup occurred when it was discovered that the B Form necessary for Veerraju's nomination was not available at the Andhra Pradesh BJP office. It was located in Hyderabad, with the document signed by BJP Chief Nadda, necessitating urgent action to transport it to Gannavaram.

The documents required for Veerraju's nomination were rapidly transported from Hyderabad to Gannavaram via a special flight. Yet, this was only the beginning of the logistical challenges faced. The signature of AP BJP president Daggubati Purandeshwari was also required, presenting another hurdle as she was in Delhi attending the parliamentary session. Upon learning of the situation, Purandeshwari boarded another special flight to Gannavaram, demonstrating the lengths to which the party was willing to go to facilitate Veerraju's nomination.

Despite the efforts to expedite Purandeshwari's arrival, time constraints became a critical issue. With the nomination deadline fast approaching, the BJP leadership took the decision to have BJP secretary Kasi Viswanadha Raju sign the documents on Purandeshwari's behalf. This swift adaptation to the unfolding situation allowed Veerraju to submit his nomination documents to the returning officer with just a mere 15 minutes to spare before the 3:30 PM deadline.

The culmination of these events saw Purandeshwari arriving at the assembly after the documents were successfully submitted. She engaged with local leaders and alongside Veerraju, met with CM Chandrababu. The series of events leading up to the successful filing of Veerraju's nomination - involving not one, but two special flights, and a series of coordinated actions across different cities - highlighted the unprecedented resources and effort invested in this particular nomination. This has led to observations that Veerraju's nomination could very well be the most expensive in the history of Andhra Pradesh MLC elections.
