It’s Official: TVK Vijay Gets Congress Support

The Tamil Nadu assembly election this year has an interesting outcome as Thalapathy Vijay’s TVK is the single largest party. The conventional favourites of DMK and AIDMK are completely removed from power.

However, the problem has come with the fact that TVK could not secure the adequate major majority to form the government in Tamil Nadu. They still need 10 Assembly seats to form the government.

On that note, the latest development are suggesting that the Congress party has agreed to ally with Vijay.A ccording to the latest communication made by the Congress party itself The President of Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay, has formally requested the Indian National Congress (INC) to extend its support for forming a government in Tamil Nadu.

It was confirmed by the Congress party that it is their constitutional duty to respect, uphold and help fulfil this mandate of the people of Tamil Nadu. Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee and the Congress Legislative Party has decided to extend its full support to the TVK to form the government.

This support shall be conditional upon the TVK keeping out from this alliance any communal forces that do not believe in the Constitution of India. This would officially mean that the Congress party will add five more seats to the TVK government and Vijay will now have to find five additional seats that are further required to form the government.
