Vijay Needs 92,000 Crore: Where Will He Get?
If we have a look at the kind of promises that were made by Vijay, they are beyond ordinary.
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 May 2026 11:08 AM ISTTamil actor Thalapathy Vijay has created history in Tamil Nadu by leading TVK to power in the most sensational way possible. He is contemplating an alliance with Congress and AIDMK and it is going to be a matter of time before this gets finalised and he gets elected as the chief minister.
But in the meanwhile, the discussion has already started about the kind of financial burden that the manifest to that person announced by Vijay will have on the Tamil Nadu public.
If we have a look at the kind of promises that were made by Vijay, they are beyond ordinary.
Monthly financial support of ₹2,500 to women heads of families (up to age 60).
Some of the big promises that Vijay had made include Six free LPG cylinders per year. Sovereign gold coin and silk saree for every bride.
Gold ring for mothers on the birth of a newborn. Annual payment of ₹15,000 to mothers/guardians of girls studying up to Class 12 (to reduce school dropouts).
One-time financial assistance of up to ₹5 lakh for women self-help groups. Collateral-free education loans of up to ₹20 lakh for students from Class 12 to PhD level. Monthly unemployment allowance of ₹4,000 for graduates. Monthly unemployment allowance of ₹2,500 for diploma holders.
All of these schemes would collectively require around 90,000 crore budget allocation every year and this is going to be a significant challenge, even for a financially stable state like Tamil Nadu.
The overall budget of Tamil Nadu itself around ₹3,00,000 crore so it has to be seen how Vijay would attract another 90,000 crore just for the welfare schemes that he had announced.
