Wrestler's Husband Takes Us Through Her Weight-loss Journey!

India’s medal dreams shattered as Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the finals due to being overweight and CAs dismissed her plea. Indians pinned high hopes that CAS would give a positive verdict. After much delay, the petition she filed challenging the disqualification was dismissed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

As Vinesh Phogat’s weight row created a sensation, her husband took everyone through the weight loss journey. Vinesh Phogat’s husband Somveer said that Vinesh tried her best in reducing the weight as she tried vomiting and sweating too.

Somveer said that Vinesh Phogat was expected to win a medal for the country be it Gold or Silver. But that did not happen. Vinesh gave her best to get a medal for the country. She was dehydrated in the weight loss journey, he said.

Earlier reports said that Vinesh put in the best efforts to reduce the weight. She sweated a lot and blood was also pumped out in small size. She also underwent a haircut and her dresses also changed.

Vinesh Phogat was just 100 grams overweight than the limit. Due to the food she took to be energised due to back-to-back bouts her weight increased. After the semi-finals, she worked for as many as 12 hours to be under the prescribed weight.

But her efforts did not give her a positive outcome as she was disqualified from the finals. She then approached the CAS to challenge the disqualification. A few times the verdict was postponed and at last the petition was dismissed.
