Vinod Kambli, the former Indian cricketer, found himself on the receiving end of not just health struggles but also an outpouring of love from his childhood friend, Sachin Tendulkar. After being admitted to the hospital due to a health scare, Kambli expressed his heartfelt gratitude for Tendulkar’s constant blessings, a reminder of their bond beyond the cricket field.
Kambli’s condition had worsened recently, prompting a fan to rush him to the hospital. After tests, doctors discovered brain clots, but the good news is that his health has shown improvement. In a candid chat with ANI, the 52-year-old shared, “I’m feeling better now...I’ll never leave this (cricket) because I remember the centuries and double centuries I’ve scored...I’m thankful to Sachin Tendulkar as his blessings have always been with me.” Kambli had attended the inauguration of coach Ramakant Achrekar’s memorial, where he met Tendulkar, and the two shared a touching moment.
Though his health situation was serious, with medical experts keeping a close watch, Kambli was blessed with a gesture of kindness from Akruti Hospital, where he’s being treated. The hospital's in-charge, S Singh, promised Kambli free treatment for life, further adding to the emotional weight of his recovery.
As Kambli continues to heal, he spoke about the support of his family, especially his wife, who ensured he received the right care. "My wife took me to three different hospitals, saying, ‘You have to get fit.’ It felt great to have Ajay Jadeja visit me too. My kids, they’ve been my rock,” he said, reflecting on his struggles with a humor that only a cricketer could muster. “I collapsed once... turns out it was just my body giving me a timeout!”
