Virat Kohli Slams BCCI Rule: What’s Happening?
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has a “No Family Rule” for Indian cricketers, particularly during major tournaments like the ICC Cricket World Cup and other important series.
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 March 2025 11:39 AMIt is known that team India is one of the most successful national teams in global cricket with multiple accreditations to its name. The most recent ICC tournament win came in the form of champions trophy 2025, which was one comprehensively by India.
However, the discussion now is about the controversial rule that has been imposed by the BCCI, which has a lot to do with the players and coaching staff.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has a “No Family Rule” for Indian cricketers, particularly during major tournaments like the ICC Cricket World Cup and other important series. This rule restricts players from having their family members, including spouses and children, travel with them during a specific period of the tournament.
When asked to comment on this topic, India’s legendary batsmen and one of the greatest ever players in the history of the sport, Virat Kohli had a pretty vocal reaction.
Kohli commented that it is an absolute unnecessary to restrict families from travelling with the players in major tournaments. He stated that spending time with family after such intense games and being a part of such high-profile tournaments is a calming effect on players, which will ultimately help them with their focus and dedication.
Kohli stated that there is absolutely no return in a positive manner for this regulation, which keeps the players away from their families during major ICC tournaments and elongated bilateral series’.
With India’s legendary player, Kohli himself slamming this rule, it has to be seen if the BCCI would take certain measures to uplift the same in the near future.
