Run Machine Virat Kohli proved his capability on a bigger stage. He shined with the bat in the ongoing World Cup and added another feather to his illustrious cap. King Kohli entered the history book with a massive record to his name and he also broke the record held by Sachin Tendulkar in the process.

Virat Kohli now has the record of scoring 1000 runs in a calendar year for the most number of times as he did this eight times. Sachin Tendulkar is in second place with seven times. Virat achieved the milestone when he was at a personal score of 34.

In the match against Sri Lanka, Virat Kohli achieved the record at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was a delight to watch Virat Kohli bat as he stitched a good partnership with Shubman Gill.

Looking at the other players who were on the list with the most number of times with 100o runs in a calendar year. Sachin Tendulkar is in the next place with seven times followed by Kumar Sangakkara(6), Sourav Ganguly(5), Ricky Ponting(5), and Rohit Sharma(5).

Things would have been different had Virat Kohli reached the three-figure score. Yet again he missed the century by a few runs. Virat Kohli was dismissed after a brilliant 88. Dilshan Madushanka who shocked India by sending back skipper Rohit Sharma in the very first over gave India another blow by sending back Virat.

The slower delivery did the trick and saw Virat Kohli walking back. The crowd at the Wankhede Stadium became silent when Virat lost his wicket at 88. This is another shock for India as opener Shubman Gill was sent back after a brilliant 92.
