Coming Soon: What’s WhatsApp Premium In India?

It is already on that WhatsApp is the most used social messaging platform in the world and particularly so even in India. And the latest developments are suggesting that WhatsApp could be introducing a new premium platform in the country.

Recent reports suggest that messaging giant WhatsApp is preparing to introduce a paid subscription service in India, often referred to as WhatsApp Premium or WhatsApp Plus.

The feature is currently being tested by parent company Meta Platforms and is expected to roll out gradually in selected markets. While the core messaging service will remain free, the premium plan may offer additional features designed for users who want more customization and control over the app.

One of the key highlights of the proposed subscription is greater personalization options. Premium users may be able to choose from multiple themes, interface colors, and different app icons, allowing them to customize the appearance of the messaging platform according to their preferences.

Another major feature expected in the premium version is an increased chat pin limit. Currently, users can pin only three chats at the top of their chat list. With the paid plan, this limit could increase significantly, making it easier to keep important conversations visible at all times.

The subscription could also include exclusive sticker packs, special reactions, and custom notification sounds, giving users access to features not available in the free version. Reports also suggest the possibility of advanced chat management tools and interface enhancements aimed at improving the overall messaging experience.

Although the company has not yet confirmed pricing, industry estimates suggest the subscription may cost a few hundred rupees per month in India. Even after the launch of the premium tier, basic messaging, voice calls, and video calls on WhatsApp are expected to remain free for all users.
