If there is any controversial topic in the country right now then it has to be Electoral Bonds. There has been immense criticism over the bonds due to questions over transparency. As there are a few questions and doubts on electoral bonds the issue was taken to the Supreme Court.

There are many questions on the legal validity of the bonds. Today the Supreme Court gave a sensational verdict on the electoral bonds. The country’s top court scrapped the electoral bonds and dubbed them as unconstitutional. The system which has been followed for seven years is termed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

As the Supreme Court scrapped the electoral bonds, the focus went on to the parties that got the highest amounts through the bonds. Between March 2018 and January 2024, the political parties generated as much as Rs 16,518 crore in total. The BJP is at the top with the lion's share.

Be it political donations or electoral bonds, usually the ruling parties get a big preference. The same happened with the Bharatiya Janata Party as well. The BJP generated a whopping Rs 6,565 crore. This is the highest for any party and BJP accounts for 55 percent of total funds.
