With Aravind Kejriwal deciding to step down as Chief Minister of Delhi, things got heated pretty quickly. He stated that he will not be on the throne till he is proven innocent by the public. He asked to conduct elections as early as possible in Delhi. With Kejriwal stepping down, there is a lot of curiosity about who becomes the CM candidate from Aam Admi Party.

Names like Aatishi, Gopal Roy, Kailash Gahlot and Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal are some of the names being heard. Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia met Kejriwal in his residence and it is the first time they both met after Kejriwal came out of jail. There is a talk that Manish Sisodia is one of the leading candidates for the CM position.

Sunita Kejriwal is a name that is doing rounds in media for the past couple of months. A leader of the party claimed that she will be the next CM in Delhi as she is an IAS just like his husband Kejriwal and knows how to run the government. She led the campaign for AAP in Delhi, Haryana and Gujarat during Lok Sabha elections. She talked to the media regularly while Kejriwal was in jail and also took part in the rallies conducted by opposition parties.

Atishi Marlena is a name that is being heard a lot as well. The Minister of Education is quite dynamic and she played a key role in looking after the party while Kejriwal was arrested. He is taking care of 14 departments in the cabinet ministry which includes education, finance, planning, PWD, water, electricity, Human relations and other departments.

Gopal Roy rose from the bottom and the 49-year-old is involved in politics right from his student life. He is taking care of environment and forest departments in Kejriwal's ministry. He has good relations with labour organisations and unions. Another name is Kailash Gehlot who is the transport minister of Delhi. There is strong argument for his case too as he is known for his strength in administration.
