Why is Chandrababu keeping a distance from Jana Sena?

Time was when the TDP yearned for an electoral alliance with the Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena. The Jana Sena after all had the support of one of the most powerful communities in the state and the party chief has great craze among the youth. But, things have changed now for the TDP, which no longer feels that joining hands with Pawan Kalyan may not be all that beneficial

The reason? The recent targeted attack of Pawan Kalyan on the village volunteers. There are over 2.61 lakh village volunteers and Pawan Kalyan's extremely strong criticism of the village volunteers could alienate them. This is something that the TDP doesn't want to happen as it is courting a significant section of the village volunteers.

During his Varahi Yatra, Pawan Kalyan accused the village volunteers of having sought sexual favours from the beneficiaries. These comments have stirred up a hornet's nest and the village volunteers are now up in arms against Pawan Kalyan. For Chandrababu, 2.61 lakh village volunteers mean at least 40 lakh votes.

This is the reason why the TDP boss is now slowly trying to distance himself from the Jana Sena. Also, he has realized that Pawan Kalyan might go in for a hard bargain and demand more seats in the assembly elections. Both are not to the advantage of Chandrababu Naidu. Hence, there is no comment whatsoever about the Varahi yatra.
