Start of the 2026 year has not been a kind one for Wipro employees as they’re facing new challenges and restrictions with regard to the working conditions.

The new year has begun on a challenging note for many Wipro employees as the IT major has tightened its work from office norms. From January 1, the company has started enforcing stricter attendance rules under its hybrid work policy, reducing flexibility that employees earlier enjoyed.

While Wipro continues to follow a hybrid model, employees are now required to spend a minimum of six hours in the office on designated work from office days.

Earlier, staff members had more freedom regarding how long they stayed in office, as long as they marked attendance. The new rule has created concern among employees, especially those who commute long distances or manage personal responsibilities alongside work.

Reports suggest that failure to meet the six hour requirement could result in half day leave deductions, adding to the pressure.

In addition, Wipro has reportedly reduced the number of remote work days allowed annually for special situations. This move has further added to employee discomfort, with many feeling that work life balance has taken a hit at the start of the year. Internal discussions among staff point to growing dissatisfaction, particularly as other companies are still offering flexible options.

The policy change reflects a broader trend in the IT industry where companies are pushing for increased office presence. However, for Wipro employees, the new year has clearly brought tighter rules and a tougher daily routine.
