No Salaries For Govt Employees: Here’s Why!
Government jobs are generally regarded as very safe and convenient for the working population, but that is not the case in Uttar Pradesh now.
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 Feb 2026 12:07 AM ISTGovernment jobs are generally regarded as very safe and convenient for the working population, but that is not the case in Uttar Pradesh now. The Yogi Adityanath government has taken a strong and unprecedented step by withholding the salaries of more than 68000 Uttar Pradesh government employees.
The action was taken after these employees failed to upload details of their movable and immovable assets on the Manav Sampada portal, despite repeated instructions and deadlines.
According to officials, the disclosure of assets is mandatory for all state government employees as part of transparency and accountability measures.
Those who ignored the rule are now facing immediate financial consequences, with their monthly salaries put on hold. The government has made it clear that salaries will be released only after complete and accurate asset declarations are submitted on the portal.
What makes this move significant is the clear warning issued alongside it. The state administration has said that disciplinary action may also follow if employees continue to violate the disclosure norms. This could include departmental inquiries and further penalties.
The decision has sent a strong message across the bureaucracy. The Yogi Adityanath government has consistently projected a zero tolerance approach toward corruption, and this step reinforces that stance. Officials say the objective is not punishment alone, but to instill discipline, transparency, and public trust in governance.
In Uttar Pradesh, zero tolerance on corruption is no longer just a slogan. With this action, it is being enforced as a firm policy with real consequences.
It has to be seen if several states across India would start to implement such regulations for government employees in the near future.
