Beginning July 15, 2025, YouTube will stop monetising videos that are repetitive, reused, or copied. This update to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) aims to raise the bar for content quality across the platform.
Why Is YouTube Making This Change?
YouTube has noticed a surge in low-effort content such as:
Reaction mashups with minimal original input
AI-generated slideshows lacking meaningful content
Heavily edited versions of others’ videos
Clickbait or low-quality content created purely to get views
To protect authentic creators and reduce misuse of the platform, YouTube is tightening the rules.
What Could Cause You to Lose Monetisation?
Creators who:
Upload copied video content from others
Make minor tweaks to existing videos and repost
Use templates or AI tools to churn out mass-produced content
Continuously post similar content with no fresh ideas or value
If your videos don’t offer genuine educational or entertainment value, YouTube won’t pay you for them anymore.
