YouTuber 'Local Boy' Nani Arrested

Visakhapatnam Cybercrime Police have arrested social media influencer Vasupalli Nani, popularly known as ‘Local Boy’ Nani, for allegedly endorsing online betting applications. Authorities claim that Nani actively promoted these platforms on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, misleading his followers with promises of high returns on minimal investments.

The case gained momentum after a local youth reportedly lost nearly ₹2 crore on betting sites such as Dafabet, Parimatch, Mahadev Book, and Rajabet. The victim, who suffered financial distress, filed a complaint against Nani, accusing him of luring people into gambling through deceptive advertisements.

Following the complaint, Telangana RTC MD Sajjanar strongly criticized Nani’s activities and ordered the removal of his promotional videos. As the investigation progressed, cybercrime officials arrested Nani on Saturday night and placed him under judicial remand. Further probes revealed that other social media influencers were also involved in promoting similar illegal betting platforms.

Visakhapatnam Commissioner of Police Shanka Brata Bagchi issued a stern warning against social media influencers endorsing betting apps, emphasizing that strict legal action would be taken against those misleading the public.
