Operation success-patient died: Sharmila wins award, but ready to shut down party

You may have heard of the adage "operation success but patient has died." This adage suits no one better than YS Sharmila. The reason? She has won the record for undertaking the longest padayatra ever by any woman in India. The 'operation' has succeeded. But, she is all set to merge the very party that she had found and walked all this distance for in another party. That's how the 'patient' died.

The Indian Book of Records has said that by undertaking a 3800-km-long padayatra in Telangana, Sharmila has created a record. The officials of the Indian Book of Records met YS Sharmila at Hyderabad on Tuesday and presented her with the award. Thus, Sharmila became the only woman to walk for such a long distance.

However, the anti-climax is that the cause for which she had walked all this distance is almost lost. She has now decided to wind up the YSRTP after all the back-breaking effort. She is now said to be planning to merge her party into the Congress Party. She has already held several rounds of discussions with the top leaders of the party.

Sources say that she has demanded Secunderabad assembly seat and two more seats for her supporters. TPCC chief Revanth Reddy is said to be of the opinion that Sharmila should be allowed into the party only after the completion of the Telangana assembly elections.
