YS Sharmila as Andhra Pradesh PCC chief?

There is a strong buzz that YS Sharmila would be pitted against AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh. The rumour mill is abuzz that YS Sharmila would be made the PCC chief in Andhra Pradesh. Her presence will energise the moribund Congress Party and YS Sharmila would get a Rajya Sabha seat from Karnataka in the bargain, claim those in the know.

The Congress Party is working overtime to revive the party in Andhra Pradesh. The party, which ruled the state for decades, is now all but dead. The party lost the security deposit in all but one seat in the 2014 elections and all the seats in the 2019 elections. The party wants to improve its position and come back into the reckoning. Hence, the party is planning to have YS Sharmila at the helm.

The buzz is that she will merge her party into the Congress Party and help the latter in Telangana in the 2023 elections. Then, she will take over as the PCC chief in Andhra Pradesh and fight her brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, say sources. However, there is no official confirmation of this so far from any quarter.

Those who know YS Sharmila say that she is okay with merging the party and working for the Congress in Telangana. But, she has some issues with fighting her own brother in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. Sources say that she has already told the Congress party leaders that she would not fight her brother. She told them that she would be confined to Telangana only.
