The coronavirus has affected the livelihood of many people. Many industries and their businesses took a severe beating due to the virus and the lockdown. The theatre business is one among them and they were forced to keep their curtains down for the past eight months. With no business whatsoever in these eight months, the theatre owners and distributors have faced a lot of financial troubles.
With the OTT platforms becoming very popular during this time, people became more inclined to the digital platform which is going to affect the theatre business a lot in the days to come. News is that some of the well-known theatres in Hyderabad are going to shut down completely as the owners are not able to cope up with the losses.
The list of 15 theatres that are going to be closed include Shanti theatre in Narayanguda, Sree Mayuri theatre in RTC 'X' Roads, Galaxy theatre in Tolichowki, Amba theatre in Mehdipatnam, Sairaja theatre in Musheerabad, Sri Rama theatre in Bahadurpura, Venkatadri theatre in Dilsukhnagar and others. While these are just reports from reliable sources, it is disheartening to hear the news of theatres getting closed.
