Analysis:

There are many ways to impress the audience. While some prefer to come up with unique stories and give a new experience to the audience, some others prefer to give a fresh treatment to an old story. Despite knowing what happens next, the feel-good factor makes the viewers enjoy the moment. 'Anni Manchi Sakunamule' belongs to the second category. There is nothing new in the story and we even get a feeling that the scenes are moving way too slowly. But the emotional connection with some characters and the fun in a lot of scenes drive the movie forward. There is no vulgarity in this movie as the director keeps everything simple and makes sure that it impresses not just the family audience but also the youth. People who watched 'Ala Modalaindi' and 'Kalyana Vaibhogame' will know what Nandini Reddy's style is. 'Anni Manchi Sakunamule' is a feel-good entertainer too but her narration slowed down a lot this time. She focused more on the movies and they turned out to be the highlight of 'Anni Manchi Sakunamule'.

The concept of kids getting swapped in hospitals is showcased for the past 3-4 decades. Allu Arjun's 'Ala Vaikunthapuramlo' too had the same concept. Though it is old, it is an evergreen subject as it offers a lot of drama. The viewers get intrigued immediately and they get emotional when both the families find out the truth. The director made sure that it does not get too melodramatic but touches the heart of the audience. The way she handled the climax is worth mentioning too. They are the biggest highlights of the movie. Even the hero and heroine track is dealt quite practically without a lot of drama. They are very casual and do not give a dramatic vibe at all. But the audience can feel the love in some key scenes like how the hero reveals his love towards the heroine and a few others. She scored a lot of points in the way she handled such sensible scenes.

The track of both families being at loggerheads with each other all the time seem a bit unnecessary in 'Anni Manchi Sakunamule'. Though they fight with each other all the time, one doesn't really understand what the problem is exactly. This plotline looks a bit forced and out of place in the story. The initial few scenes showcasing the childhood of the hero and heroine are dragged a lot. We can understand how Nandini wants to take the story forward after these sequences. If we get connected with the initial scenes and get an idea of how the movie's pace is going to be, 'Anni Manchi Sakunamule' will feel like a joy ride. The feel-good factor takes the movie forward despite the lag and a few unwanted scenes. The lead roles and how the actors owned them perfectly are the biggest plus points in this movie. The songs, background score and cool visuals bring a positive vibe on the movie. The first half is decent but the marriage scenes during the second half make you a bit frustrated. But the emotions work out well when the hero opens up about his love. The climax portions too connect with the viewers quite well and makes sure that they step out of the theatres with a positive experience. This is a slow movie that has an old story but the feel-good factor and emotions overshadow the shortcomings. 'Anni Manchi Sakunamule' is a treat for classy family movie lovers.

Performances:

The artists are the biggest strength of 'Anni Manchi Sakunamule'. The casting is quite perfect and everyone one of them did a fantastic job. Santosh Sobhan played the character with ease and did not go overboard at any point. He spreads a positive feel in the movie and his portrayal of a happy-go-lucky guy who doesn't overthink anything is very convincing. We will see his potential in the scene where he admits his liking towards the heroine despite trying to hold back.

Malavika Nair did her role in a very mature manner. Though the makeup work done to show her as a young girl in the first half looked a bit odd, she looked absolutely gorgeous in the remaining scenes. Her expressions are too good and she is the perfect choice of Arya. Though it has become a bit odd to see Rajendra Prasad play a comedy character at this age, he played a very serious role this time. Rao Ramesh was amazing in his role and he got highlighted in the last 30 minutes. Naresh too showcased his experience. Gauthami, Vasuki, Shaokar Janaki and others left a lasting impact with their performance. Vennela Kishore brought a few laughs but he wasn't utilized completely. The rest of the actors are fine.

Technicians:

Mickey J Meyer who disappointed heavily with 'Rama Banam' is back in his element for 'Anni Manchi Sakunamule'. He gives his best for family movies and love stories. His music has a unique and classy touch that works amazingly for this movie. Every song is pleasant and lovely while the background score too carries a very good feel. Sunny Kurapari and Richard Prasad's visuals are delightful. Despite being in a hill station, most of the movie takes place indoors and it brings out the best work of these cinematographers. The producers have not compromised on this movie. Despite the hero's low market value, they brought top actors for character roles and made sure that the output is perfect.

Though there is nothing new in Nandini Reddy's story, she made sure that the scenes are refreshing and the feel-good factor stays intact throughout the movie. Writers Dawood and Lakshmi Bhupal helped her well and this worked wonders for the movie. But Nandini Reddy's narration slowed down way too much. Had the lag in some scenes been cut short, the movie would have been crisper and this decent family entertainer would have turned into a very good family entertainer.

Verdict: 'Anni Manchi Sakunamule' - Slowly Gets Into Your Heart!
