Bollywood saw very uneventful year in terms of big movies but they had a successful business year, in 2019 with smaller budget films working big time.

Films like Article 15, URI: The Surgical Strikes, Kabir Singh, De De Pyaar De, Badla, Kesari, Luka Chuppi, Total Dhamaal became profitable ventures.

In Monsoon season, mainly from August and September months, the business of Hindi Cinema saw good growth and returns.

Saaho that failed in South, became a hit in North. Mission Mangal crossed 200 crores Nett mark, a first for Akshay Kumar and Batla House too became a hit for Nikhil Advani and John Abraham.

Chhichhore is closing in on 150 crores Nett gross and Dream Girl is closing in on 125 crores Nett gross. All these films are biggest hits for respective heroes in Hindi language.

But at the same time, in South Indian Cinema, Vijay Devarakonda with Dear Comrade, Nani with Gangleader, Prabhas with Saaho, Suriya with Bandobast/Kaappaan, Nagarjuna with Manmadhudu-2, Sharwanand with Ranarangam, Vijay Sethupathi with Sindhubaadh, Siddharth's Sivappu Manjal Pacchai delivered big flops.

Only Evaru starring Adivi Sesh, Gaddalakonda Ganesh (Valmiki) starring Varun Tej, became hits in Telugu and in Tamil, Zombie is considered a hit and Sivakarthikeyan's Namma Vettu Pillai is recognised as his comeback hit after first weekend by trade.

Interesting thing is Hindi Cinema saw a revenue close to Rs. 700 crores in just two months and South Indian Industry lost Rs. 250-300 crores at the same time. Now its over to Dasara and Diwali season in October!

War and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy are starting the big festival season on 2nd October for both Hindi and South Indian Cinema on a large scale with a cummulative amount of Rs. 450 - 500 crores at stake.
