Many of South Indian stars tried to do similar kind of "Hero" films in Hindi as well, when they wanted to test their luck in the language.

That did not help them find a market. Except for Prabhas, no one really could penetrate so well in mass belts as well. Thanks to Baahubali films.

Ram Charan, Chiranjeevi did fail as they tried to take similar kind of roles to Hindi too, in their films. Nagarjuna found success because he tried something different but he did not find Hindi Industry so welcoming and decided to do more Telugu films.

After observing them closely, Allu Arjun decided to go for story driven films like Gullyboy or Bhaag Milkha Bhaag as his direct debut in Hindi.

He seems to be planning movies in Tamil and Hindi in coming years as Ala Vaikuntapurramuloo helped him set a clear cut market in Telugu Cinema for coming years.

If he can impress National wide audiences as an actor first and then take on "hero" subjects like Ranbir, Ranveer who showcased that stardom in Hindi Cinema is more script based these days than actor based, then he might achieve what he has set out to. Clever decision indeed.
