Telugu Cinema started off 2019 poorly with NTR Kathanayakudu failing and Vinaya Vidheya Rama, Petta adding themselves to the lot of disasters for Sankranti season. Only, F2 could click and it became one of the biggest hits in recent years using the advantage of season and flops.

Mr. Majnu from Akhil and Venky Atluri ended up as a disappointment after the initial collections. February saw even bigger disaster in NTR Mahanayakudu and except for Yatra, all movies failed to even register a good opening.

Anjali CBI could recover costs. March saw Nandamuri Kalyanram score a hit with low budget film, 118 and films like Cheekati Gadilo Chitakkotudu, Jessie, Where is The Venkatalakshmi and Suryakantham ended up as disasters.

Lakshmi's NTR could rake in some interest but it failed to make an impact in Telangana and it still did not release in Andhra Pradesh.

April saw Summer season starting with a blockbuster like Majili. Sai Dharam Tej kept the hope of a fruitful Summer with Chitralahari.

Nani's Jersey ended up making a profit barely even though it became the unanimously best reviewed film in years. Raghava Lawrence made a mark on the box office with Kanchana-3 and established the horror franchise, Muni as a big money spinner.

Avengers Endgame in the last week of April made many producers fear about their films but it ended as one weekend film in Telugu only. Globally, it is second biggest hit film ever.

May 9th saw, Mahesh Babu's Maharshi release and the movie surprisingly collected better than the trade predicted but at the levels Mahesh Babu claims it did.

Now, ABCD from Allu Sirish and Sita by Kajal Aggarwal, Bellamkonda Srinivas ended the decent run that Telugu films were having at the box office this Summer.

The season till now has been disappointing as only one movie, Majili could secure profits universally. Maharshi is struggling in USA and Ceeded areas. Even Rest of India is not performing as good as Bharat Ane Nenu.

Chitralahari and Jersey did not make profits to buyers at the same time did not end up as losses too. After such a good start, distributors want a better ending to forget all the losses and move on to Monsoon season.

Can NGK from Suriya end the Summer on 31st May, with a good turnout at box office? Will Sai Pallavi factor work for him and Telugu Cinema to score a hit? Let's wait and see.
