With film theatres closed, film shootings stopped and production grinding to a halt, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) too has closed down temporarily. This decision has been taken in view of the Corona menace.

In a statement CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi said that all the nine CBFC offices spread across the country have been temporarily closed and that there would be no screening during the closure period. He said the decision was taken in view of the Corona crisis. He said keeping in view the health of the staff members, panel members, officials and the clients, the CBFC took this decision. He said the CBFC has set up helpline numbers in all the nine centres to answer the queries from people at large. He said the services would resume once the situation is back to normal and the lockdown is lifted.

As of now, some staff members are working from home and are evaluating the online applications submitted to the CBFC.

Already the film industry has shut down in view of the Corona scare. The government has closed down all film theatres and multiplexes to ensure that the spread of the deadly virus is arrested.
