The Delhi High Court on Tuesday refused to grant interim stay on the Vir Das's Hasmukh streaming on Netflix. The plea was seeking an interim stay on the airing of the web series claiming the fictional series maligned the reputation of advocates.

Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva dismissed the application moved by lawyer Ashutosh Dubey.

Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, while dismissing the plea said, "One of the prime forms of exposing the ills of the society is by portraying a satirical picture of the same. Stand-up comedians perform that very purpose. In their portrayal, they exaggerate the ills to an extent that it becomes a ridicule."

The main petition seeking a permanent restrain on the airing of the show is pending and listed for hearing in July.

After the order was passed, Netflix represented advocate Saikrishna Rajagopal said, "So this decision is a gentle reminder of the fact that freedom and ability are still, very much, intact."
