There are two notable films releasing this weekend at the Tollywood box office but the advance bookings are not all encouraging for them. This is worrying the trade analysts as they hoped for some activity at the ticket counters after two weeks of dull run in theatres. Because of the exam season, not many films got released in the last couple of weeks. 'Sir' came out one month back and it is all set to arrive on Netflix from Friday. After this movie, only 'Balagam' did decent business in the Nizam area. Though Ranbir Kapoor's 'Tu Jhooti Main Makkar' is getting a good reception, this flick is reserved to urban centers.
Coming to the weekend releases, 'Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi' is targeting the youth audience. Knowing Avasarala Srinivas, it is going to be a very class romantic comedy. The pre-release event, media interviews and other promotional activities failed to create a lot of buzz. Even Naga Shaurya is not promoting this film quite aggressively. No one knows whether it is the belief in content or the doubt over the final product. The same is the situation with 'Kabzaa' which is termed as a pan-Indian film. This action flick has a decent buzz in Karnataka because of Upendra but it is not the case in other languages. The striking similarity with 'KGF' is having an effect on the movie.
There is nothing to discuss about a small movie titled 'Gana' which is arriving at the same. People are in no mood to enter theatres and the makers are also failing to generate the required buzz over the movie. Apart from a universal blockbuster talk for any of these two movies, this weekend is also going to be a dull affair at the box office. With 'Das Ka Dhamki' arriving next week, let us wait and see what happens.
