What is Flexi-pricing? - Distributors and Exhibitors have freedom to decide on how much they can charge for one ticket at the theatres, for any given film on any given day.

Which implies to one being asked to spend Rs. 300/- per ticket for a film starring Star Heroes on weekend and the same ticket being sold for Rs. 100/- (normal price) on Weekdays.

Even for films that have good buzz before release this can be applied too. Basically, it is left to the discretion of the producer-distributor and exhibitors to decide on the pricing. If there is no cap, they can increase price upto Rs. 1000/- as well.

This is advantageous to big films and producers who are trying to spend Rs. 100 crores or above on each film. Rather than encouraging black tickets or premiere show tickets at Rs. 1000/- or so, this will be a legal way of pricing Rs. 500/- or above per ticket at multiplexes.

Already Allu Aravind and several producers have asked Governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to give permission to bring Flexi-pricing in Hyderabad, Vizag, Vijaywada initially, where multiplex culture is on the raise.

They have included single screens in these cities and many towns to have flexi pricing as well but only for Balcony and middle level seats.

Governments have given permissions to extra shows, ticket hike and even additional seating during Sankranthi season which let both the films - Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikuntapurramuloo, to put up fantastic numbers through out the two weekends.

Showing the business of both the films during Sankranthi and business of biggies over past 5 years, producers have moved this resolution to governments of Telugu States, it seems.

Many feel that this is just a new way to take out more from the pockets of audiences who are just looking to spend their time at films. What do you think about it?
