The promotions of 'Ponniyin Selvan - 1' are in full swing right now. The entire team did their best by giving interviews and attending events all across the country. The film is all set to hit the screens on 30th September and it is regarded as one of the biggest films ever made in the Tamil film industry. Since it is based on the Chola history, the Tamilians are emotionally attached to this project and it is reflected in the advance bookings.

The Tamil version is doing great business as people in Tamil Nadu are showing a lot of interest in this film. The collections in the overseas market is expected to cross $1 million just with its premiers. The presence of big names like Vikram and Karthi in a Mani Ratnam film made it very appealing as the advance bookings are reportedly are on par with a Vijay or Ajith film.

But the same kind of buzz is not seen in the Telugu market. There are no big releases in Telugu this weekend except for 'PS - 1' and Dhanush's 'Nene Vastunna'. The team did a pre-release event and gave one interview which is not enough in terms of promotions. The advance bookings are reportedly dull. The audience may step into theatres if the talk comes out positively. We need to wait and see what happens.

Produced under Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies banners, the cast of the film includes Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and R Parthiban. AR Rahman is the music composer. Ravi Varman is the director of photography while Sreekar Prasad is the editor. The action was composed by Kecha Khamphakdee, Sham Kaushal & Dhilip Subbarayan. Dil Raju is releasing this film in the Telugu states.
