Initially, there were rumors that Chiranjeevi's Acharya might be releasing in theatres this Diwali season. It was also heard that the Chiranjeevi starrer might be releasing on the 4th of November, marking the occasion of Diwali. But the latest developments are suggesting that Acharya will certainly not release in theatres in 2021. The makers were taken aback by the poor box office performance of recent releases and they have decided to postpone the film's release to 2022. In all likelihood, the film might be releasing in theatres ahead of the next Sankranthi season.

The makers of Acharya are considering an early January release for the film. January 7th and 8th are the two dates that are in consideration for the Chiranjeevi starrer. However, this is just a hopeful plan for now. Notably, RRR is also gearing up for early January release. If the Rajamouli directorial locks January first week release, then Acharya will have to vacate the slot and move to a later date. In case RRR locks January release, then Acharya will be pushed to 2022 summer.

2022 Sankranthi and summer are the only two operations that are in front of Acharya now. the makers plan to lock one of these two release slots for the film. The makers are hopeful of releasing the film next Sankranthi but that will be possible only if RRR moves to a later date. So, team Acharya is keeping its options open for now.

The final call on Acharya's release date will be taken very soon and an official announcement will be made correspospondingly. Meanwhile, Acharya unit is now gearing up for the final schedule of the film. Two songs are yet to be shot. The shoot will commence once Ram Charan allots his dates. While one song is a romantic duet featuring Ram Charan and Pooja Hegde, the other is a celebratory song that will feature Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Pooja Hegde, and Kajal.

Acharya is one of the most anticipated films in Telugu cinema and it is being mounted on a big scale. The film is directed by Koratala Siva and it has been in the making for well over two years now.
