Rajamouli is determined to release his immediate next outing RRR in theatres at the earliest. He is getting things done at a brisk pace now. The post-production works are in full swing now and the same is expected to be wrapped up by the end of this October, as hinted by the makers of the Jr NTR and Ram Charan starrer. "Post production nearly done to have #RRRMovie ready by October’21. But as known to many, we are postponing the release but cannot announce a new date with theatres indefinitely closed. We will release at the earliest possible date when the world cinema markets are up and running," the statement from the makers of RR read.
Rajamouli is facing pressure from Pen Studios, who had bagged the all-India Hindi language theatrical rights of RRR. The seion producer is urging Rajamouli to lock the release date at the earliest as he has invested big bucks on the project and cant afford to wait for a prolonged period of time. Rajamouli too is aware of the situation and that is the reason why he is planning Sankranthi 2022 release for the film. But there is a twist here as well.
No one knows if the normally will be restore by next Sankranthi and if the theatrical industry will revive by then. All of this will ultimately depend on the Covd third wave. Another complication is that not just the Indian theatrical market, the worldwide theatrical market should be fully functional if RRR is lock its release date. The overseas rights of the film were sold for whopping amounts and it is essential that the makers plan the optimal release date so that the film is provided with the opportunity to take the worldwide box office by storm. But the Covid situation across the globe should subside for that to happen.
As things stand, there are way too many complications that are directly affecting RRR's release plans. Rajamouli will have to think through all of this and take the final call on the release date. But from what we hear, RRR's release date announcement wont be happening in the near future.
