After legendary actress Jamuna and famous dubbing artist Srinivasa Murthy, the Telugu film industry lost another member of its fraternity. Well-known senior director Sagar aka Vidya Sagar Reddy breathed his last in Chennai this early morning. Apparently, the 70-year-old is unwell from quite some time and passed away at his home during the early hours of Thursday.

Sagar made his debut as a director with 'Rakasi Loya' back in 1983 and it had Naresh and Vijaya Shanti playing the leads. Later, he directed many prominent films which include 'Khaidi Brothers', 'Amma Donga', 'Rama Sakkanodu', 'Stuartpuram Dongalu', 'Daaku', 'Oosi Naa Maradala', 'Action No 1', 'Anveshana' and others.

Popular directors of Tollywood like VV Vinayak, G. Nageswara Reddy and Ravi Kumar Chowdary have worked under his wing before making a name for themselves. Born in 1952, Sagar was a film editor and an assistant director for many movies before becoming a director in 1983. His 'Stuartpuram Dongalu' is quite popular and he even served as the president of the Telugu directors association three times.

The Telugu film industry is mourning his demise and sources claim that his last rites will be performed in the evening at Chennai. May his soul rest in peace.
