Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan tried to portray the way families from Interior India look at same sex relationships. But it went over the board and tried to depict everything in a funny manner that even though it is seen as a comic film, LGBT community is not happy with it.
Sheer Qorma, a completely opposite film in tone and about two lesbian lovers is coming out to film festivals, soon.
The movie has Divya Dutta, Swara Bhaskar playing the lesbian couple and Shabana Azmi playing mother of Divya Dutta, Saira, who doesn't like this fact.
Trailer outrightly shows that the movie is all about the acceptance and conversations that lead to it.
The filmmakers don't seem to have any ambition to release it in theaters and may be after Film Festivals round-up, it might get a digital release.
Faraz Arif Ansari wrote and directed the film. While Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan tried to say everything in comical way, Sheer Qorma seems to take it too seriously. Or may be the conversations in the film are seen too heavy duty by makers to not present in lighter vain.
