Azharuddin Ismail essayed the role of Young Salim in Oscar-winning 2008 flick 'Slumdog Millionaire'. At the age of 10, This Child Artiste got the opportunity to meet the who's who in Hollywood at the Academy Awards Ceremony. Jai Ho Trust presented a flat to Ismail who used to live in the Garib Nagar slums in Bandra. But now, He is in a dire state.

Unfortunately, Azharuddin Ismail had sold the 250 sq ft flat he was presented in Santacruz West's Anurag Plaza for Rs 49 lakh and came back to the slums to live in a 10*10 ft room. This time, Azhar wasn't able to adjust well to the slum life. He used to fall sick often and that is why his Family went to their native village Jalna hoping for recovery.

The Slumdog Millionaire Actor told, 'I sold the flat due to financial problems. Don't want to go back to slums though I was born there'.

Azharuddin Ismail's Mom said, 'Jai Ho Trust stopped paying monthly expenses of Rs 9,000 per month after My Son turned 18. Since then, Our troubles began. Azhar wasn't interested in studies and preferred a small business which didn't work. He even started taking drugs upon getting influenced by others. I appeal Director Danny Boyle to help my son'.
