Success Drought in Tollywood!
X
2020 started off with a bang for Tollywood. Sankranti releases 'Ala Vaikunthapuramlo' and 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' got a tremendous talk and have set the cash registers ringing. People flocked into the theatres and gave a perfect start for the new year. Both the films became the biggest hits in Mahesh and Bunny's careers. Everyone thought that the upcoming releases would continue the success streak which is not at all happening now.

Blame the lack of content in the recent releases or the unseason but box-office is having a pretty dry run from the last one month or so. Kalyan Ram's 'Entha Manchivaadavu Ra' went unnoticed because of the big Sankranti releases. Ravi Teja's 'Disco Raja' which arrived during the Republic weekend failed very badly. Even Naga Shaurya's 'Aswathama' which released on 31st Jan did not get any collections despite a decent word of mouth.

Then came February releases which also failed to impress the audience. Sharwanand and Samantha's 'Jaanu' was released on 7th February. The film got good reviews but the audience did not show any interest in showing up at the theatres as most of them had already watched its original Tamil film '96'. Last week, Vijay Devarakonda's 'World Famous Lover' had hit the screens. Trade units hoped that it would bring some energy but the film got flop talk from the very first show and it is on its way to end up in huge losses.

The only notable release left is 'Bheeshma' which is releasing on 21st February. If this film fails to impress the viewers, they will have no interesting film left to watch till March-end. February and March are usually considered as very dull months for the film industry and it is getting proved once again. Let us wait and see how 'Bheeshma' fares at the box-office.
