Tollywood Heroes Preferring Only One Film Per Year Policy!

There used to be a time when the star heroes in Tollywood used to make 5-10 in a year. They shot for two movies in a single day and there were heroes who worked two or three shifts as well. Big names like NTR, ANR, Sobhan Babu, Krishna, Krishnam Raju and others used to do this and bring as many movies as possible in theatres. But the budgets used to be very less at that time and the shootings were done in a very simple manner with heavy action sequences or the use of the latest technology.

Things changed with time and movies started to have more commercial ingredients included in them. New stories started to arrive and action sequences, set songs, foreign songs and others took more time to picturize. Directors are taking 4-5 months for shooting and there are movies that were shot for nearly 8 months as well. The pre-production is taking at least 3-4 months and post-production is taking another 4 months. Due to this, a movie is being made for more than one year and the speed of star heroes has reduced a lot.

There are a few heroes who are planning 2-3 movies per year. Megastar arrived with two movies within a year and Ravi Teja had three releases in 2022. But the big star heroes who gained pan-Indian image are preferring universal scripts and making sure that everything is grand. The story selection, scripting, shooting, editing and every other aspect of filmmaking is taking way longer than usual.

While big names like Mahesh Babu, NTR, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun and Pawan doing it can be a bit justified, even the Tier 2 heroes like Vijay Deverakonda, Ram Pothineni, Sai Dharam Tej, Nikhil, Varun Tej, Naga Chaitanya, Akhil and others are also coming with only one movie per year. None of the big heroes are arriving in the first half of 2023 and there is no clarity on whether heroes like NTR and Allu Arjun would arrive with their projects this year or not.
