There are some movies that have very ordinary stories and they become successful only because of the star hero's craze. 'Theri' is one such movie that arrived in 2016 and became a huge hit in Kollywood. Atlee utilized Vijay's craze to the full extent and fans loved the way their matinee idol was presented. The movie was dubbed as 'Policodu' in Telugu and Dil Raju released it. But it did not run well in theatres. When the movie got on satellite channels and OTT platforms, the movie was viewed by many.
Despite the movie becoming familiar with the Telugu audience, Pawan Kalyan liked it and decided to remake it. Harish Shankar is directing this film and the teaser of 'Ustaad Bhagat Singh' was recently released too. The 'Gabbar Singh' director made sure that he made ample changes in the original to fit Pawan's style. The latest we hear is that Bollywood hero Varun Dhawan decided to remake 'Theri' as well.
Director Atlee who is currently making 'Jawan' with Shah Rukh Khan is going to remake his own movie after that. Many are wondering why 'Theri' has such a craze in many languages. If a star like Pawan Kalyan is interested, why not Varun Dhawan? The official announcement is expected to arrive soon. Atlee himself penned the story of 'Theri' by getting inspired by Vijaykanth's 'Kshatriyudu' which came out in 1990.
