Will RRR find it difficult to recover costs?

RRR is the biggest film ever to be produced in terms of star value, production cost, action sequences design, production design and technology used as well. Director SS Rajamouli after crafting Baahubali movies decided to challenge himself with a multi-starrer and took in two biggest stars of Indian Cinema - Jr. NTR and Ram Charan to star in his film.

As both of them belong to rivaling families of Telugu Cinema as they both are fighting for same "biggest mass hero star" position from past 4 decades. Just like Vijay and Ajith, today in Tamil Cinema, Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna had their box office battles in the same genre of films.

Nagarjuna and Venkatesh had to offer different films from what these two did to gain fan base and box office potential. In the end, four of them became huge box office stars of Telugu Cinema just like NTR, ANR, Krishna and Sobhan Babu, Krishnam Raju from previous generation.

This generation has Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu and Prabhas also fighting for box office No. 1 position along with Ram Charan and Jr NTR. But Prabhas with Baahubali grew bigger than others and he is first Pan India Superstar of Indian Cinema.

Ram Charan and Jr. NTR hope to become as popular as Prabhas with RRR. Allu Arjun proved that Telugu Cinema has grown bigger than any other with his Pushpa The Rise Hindi cinema collections. His film did almost 90 crores Nett business from theatres, without much promotions.

Devi Sri Prasad music has become so popular that Pushpa mania in Hindi markets is huge than KGF Chapter 1. We cannot compare Pushpa success with Baahubali as it rocked every market in India and even drew huge from foreign markets.

Naturally, Rajamouli's next film after Baahubali movies, will be expected to collect huge. But COVID has pushed the release of the movie to uncertainty and now team has announced 18th March and 28th April dates, for release.

Team worked for four years to complete the film but COVID has incredibly made it difficult for them to recover all the costs they have spent over the years in making it. Had it released in normal times, the kind of box office potential the movie posses, there is no second thought in saying that the movie will collect Rs. 1200 crores for sure even with mixed talk.

Now, with a mixed talk movie potential will decrease by 30% at least which is still huge for any Indian film but pandemic struck theatres want RRR to give them respite from all the problems they have been facing financially.

Further delay in release will definitely increase the costs and even drop the enthusiasm in public to watch it at theatres as affordability with theatres going for maximum pricing and availability with limited shows could pose new problems.

We hope things get better soon and RRR will definitely see such positive response that Indian Cinema starts to recover.
