Now, he is having his first theatrical release as a hero with 'Writer Padmabhushan'. The movie has managed to grab the interest of the audience through feel-good promos and premiere shows. Let us dive into the review to find out more about this flick.

Story:

Padmabhushan (Suhas) is a librarian but considers himself as a great writer. He even publishes his book named 'Tholi Adugu' by taking 4 lakhs loan and prints thousands of copies. He does all this without saying anything to his parents. But no one likes that novel. But there is an unknown person who writes another novel with the name Padmabhushan and even runs an own blog which gives the protagonist a lot of fame. On top of that, his marriage gets fixed with Saarika (Tina Shilparaj) who he likes a lot. When life is going quite smoothly, Padmabhushan gets into a situation where he has to tell the truth to Saarika. What happens then? Will he still get married to Saarika? Who is the one writing with Padmabhushan's name? All these questions will be answered in the movie.

Analysis:

'Chai Bisket' is a name that needs no introduction for people who follow the social media content in Telugu. This company produced a lot of short films and web series over the years. The majority of them are simple and have a feel-good factor about them. There wont be any shocks and twists in the movie. They make sure that the characters are relatable and the situations are realistic. They make sure that the entertainment quotient is quite good. The light-hearted nature is what attracted a lot of netizens towards them. They even present good emotions as well. 'Writer Padmabhushan' is a feature film from their banner and it follows the same pattern. The story is very simple but the comedy levels are good and the emotional touch is convincing at the end which makes this film a pleasant watch. Despite a leisure pace and lack of logic at places, the screenplay and performances which overshadowed the flaws are the biggest assets of this movie.

'Writer Padmabhushan' is a prime example of what happens when you have a relatable lead character and an able performer along with good character artists paired with nice comedy despite a wafer-thin story. Suhas looks very ordinary in terms of looks but he is very lovable when it comes to his performances. A lot of people may become his fans after watching this movie. He breathed life into this character full of innocence. We fall in love with this role right at the beginning scene itself. We travel with him and the comedy which was written around his innocence is a major highlight. There is nothing over-the-top in this movie and there are no big dialogues as well. There isn't a hint of double meaning jokes but plenty of laughs are guaranteed. The 'theatre' episode between the hero and heroine will bring the house down. While the story runs on an entertaining note, the screenplay provides a suspense factor at the same time regarding the writer who is using the name'Padmabhushan'. The speciality of this film is that there are no negative characters and everyone gives a positive feel.

But there are some points which are hard to digest when it comes to logic. The hero getting love from his parents, love from his girl, getting popularity and everything just because another person is using his name and producing good books is very unconvincing. There is no strong reason for the heroine to unconditionally love the hero. Also, the twist regarding the unknown writer lacks logic and the sudden change in the hero's heart and mindset too doesn't work well. There are a few scenes that will bore you in the second half and the graph slightly goes down compared to the first half. But the mood of the viewer changes from the pre-climax. The last 20 minutes make you emotional and completely touch your heart. Despite a bit of melodrama, it brings tears in your eyes. Family audiences can connect with these emotions very well. Despite a few shortcomings, the climax makes you forget them and you walk out of the theatre satisfied. 'Writer Padmabhushan' is a movie that can be enjoyed with your family.

Performances:

There is no need to explain how good of an actor Suhas is. He makes an even bigger impact with this film. People who don't rate him for his looks will become his fans by the end of the movie. He has his own style as an actor and it gets elevated more through 'Writer Padmabhushan'. His expressions and dialogue delivery makes you laugh at many instances throughout the movie. After Suhas, the major credit goes to Rohini. You feel that no one can do a mother role better than her. Her natural acting will make you spellbound and the way her character gets highlighted at the end is quite good. Heroine Tina Shilparaj is beautiful and did a good job in the movie. Ashish Vidyarthi is known for his negative roles and rough characters but he entertained very well as a middle class father. His shows his range with this flick. Goparaju Ramana, Sri Gowri Priya and the actor who did the hero's friend role were decent.

Technicians:

Sekhar Chandra impresses with his music after a long time. His songs and background scores are a huge plus to this movie. The songs are very pleasant to hear and the re-recording helped a lot in driving the movie forward. He put his heart into the movie and it can be seen in the output. Venkat Shakamuri's cinematography is good. The production values are adequate. The producers showcased their taste by selecting this kind of script. Though the story and screenplay gives you the feel of a short film at times, they made sure that the audience will enjoy it in theatres. Writer and director Shanmukh Prasanth proved himself with his debut movie and he was successful in entertaining the viewers as well as touching their emotional chords.

Verdict: 'Writer Padmabhushan' – It Tickles you & Moves you!
