After a long gap, Gunasekhar is holding the megaphone again for 'Shaakunthalam'. He took a long time after 'Rudramadevi' and the senior director has selected another mythological love story as 'Shaakunthalam' is a part of Mahabharata.
The film explores the character of Shakuntala Devi and her love for king Dushyantha. Star actress Samantha Akkineni is playing the title role and the filming started a couple of weeks back in Hyderabad. Malayalam actor Dev Mohan is playing the male lead and a Tamil actress recently joined the team. She is Aditi Balan who got a lot of name and fame with 'Aruvi'. She posted a click from the film's set recently and people close to the film's unit say that Aditi joined the team last week.
This will be her maiden Telugu film and her character is expected to be pivotal to the plot. 'Shaakunthalam' is a high-budget film produced under Gunasekhar's home banner. Apparently, Sam allotted 150 days for this film and it is expected to come out in 2022.
