This Sankranti season was quite dull when compared to the previous years. It was supposed to be a massive one with movies like 'RRR', 'Radhe Shyam' and 'Bheemla Nayak' locking horns with each other. All of them backed out due to the third wave and it is the Akkineni father-son duo who emerged as the Sankranti winners with 'Bangarraju'. The film has minted over 50 crores in the first three days as announced officially. There are three other films that came out during the festive season which failed badly at the box office.

While 'Super Machi' starring Mega son-in-law went unnoticed, two youngsters released their debut films. Superstar Mahesh Babu's nephew Ashok Galla entered in Tollywood with 'Hero'. It is directed by Sriram Adittya and glamorous girl Nidhhi Agerwal is the heroine. On the other hand, Dil Raju's brother's son Ashish Reddy made his debut with 'Rowdy Boys'. Anupama Parameswaran is the heroine in this movie which is set in the backdrop of college wars. Sadly, both the films tanked at the box office and ended as bad debuts for these two heroes.

While the collections of 'Rowdy Boys' were better, the two youngsters showed good promise with their debut projects. Both Ashish and Ashok had an ease in their acting and danced well too. Experts say that Ashok may become successful if he picks good subjects in the coming days. While Ashish has better dancing skills, he needs to sharpen his acting a bit and with proper subjects, he can also stay in Tollywood for longer. Irrespective of the result, both the heroes proved that they have potential and it is to be seen how far they go in the film industry in the coming days.

'Rowdy Boys' is produced by Dil Raju while 'Hero' is bankrolled by Padmavathi Galla. Devi Sri Prasad composed music for Ashish's film while Ghibran provided the tunes for Ashok's film. 'Hushaaru' fame Harsha is the director of 'Rowdy Boys' and big names like DOP Madhie and others included in the movie. Ashok's 'Hero' too has senior artists like Naresh, Jagapathi Babu and many others.
