Keeravani's younger son Sri Simha has impressed the Telugu movie lovers with an interesting movie like 'Mathu Vadalara'. But his next few movies have disappointed the audience. Now, he is arriving with 'Bhaag Saale' which is a crime comedy. The trailer was quite impressive and let us dive into the review to find out more about the movie.
Story:
Arjun (Simha Koduri) is a chef at a hotel. He dreams of owning a hotel and live a luxurious life. He loves a rich girl Maya (Neha Solanki) and tries to achieve his goal on another hand. Arjun lies to Maya that he is a millionaire. A criminal named Samuel (John Vijay) kidnaps Maya's father in order to take the diamond ring that has been in Maya's family from many generations. Arjun and Maya decide to bring back her father. How much is the ring worth? Who will get it finally? Who else are in search for it? The answers to these questions form the rest of the story.
Analysis:
Hero is an ordinary youngster who have big dreams in life. He pretends to be rich in order to swoon a girl. He wears rich dresses and steps out of costly cards every time she meets him. In the meanwhile, the girl faces a huge problem and hero takes the responsibility of solving it. The truth about the hero comes out in this process. He confesses that his appearance was fake but his love for heroine is pure. He hugs her and everything is alright. How many similar characters and scenes have we seen before? The trailer of 'Bhaag Saale' gave us a belief that the makers are offering something new but they mixed every crime comedy starting for Hollywood movies to 'Kshana Kshanam' which arrived three decades back. The movie fails to sustain the interest of the viewer for not more than ten minutes and the only thing trendy about this movie is the foul language.
A few months back, the team released 'Kootha Ramp' song from the movie. While we don't need to get into the context of this word, the team made a song with this word as a hook line. This explains a lot about the movie. He sells off a plant to his neighbour lady and says that the plant's name is 'Pichi Pu…Chettu'. People who think that it was an unintentional double meaning dialogue are heavily mistaken. There are a lot of dialogues which we see in comments section of troll pages and they are used in this movie. Using foul language when needed can be understood but mouthing bad words just to attract the youth or earn the tag of 'Bold' movie is not appreciable.
Keeping this bad language aside, people who walked into theatres expecting something solid from the movie will be left heavily disappointed. Director gave a huge hype to the 25 crore ring through Siddhu Jonnalagadda's voice-over. But the fun in 'DJ Tillu' actor's voiceover is not seen in the movie throughout. We have seen the same pattern of hero and heroine love story in other movies like 'Vedam', 'Das Ka Dhamki' and others. These routine scenes drain you out completely. Some thought that things would get interesting when the ring comes into the picture but what follows after that is quite silly. The psycho villain searching for the ring and it changing hands constantly followed by the hero-villain cat-and-mouse game turned this into a tedious watch. You will not feel engaged to the movie. The non-organic comedy and the double meaning dialogues that crossed the limit have made 'Bhaag Saale' into a frustrating watch. While the first half itself is pretty boring, the second half turns out to be even more torturous. A lot of actors try to create a Hungama on the screen but none of them work out. None of the roles makes you feel connected and no scene makes you invested. Though the runtime is below two hours, it was very tough and people who are planning to watch some quality contact can avoid this movie at all casts.
Performances:
Simha Koduri suits the boy next door role. He played an apt role once again and he is showcased as one of the many main characters rather than a hero. His role starts off on an interesting note but falls flat soon. John Vijay played many good roles in Tamil but he is being offered silly characters in Telugu. Neha Solanki fails to impress as the heroine. Sudarshan and Satya make you laugh in the majority of their scenes. Rajeev Kanakala and Viva Harsha are decent in their roles. The rest of the actors did an okay job.
Technicians:
'Bhaag Saale' is quite average on the technical front. The technicians worked according to the script of the movie. Songs by Kaala Bhairavaa are not that impressive and he failed to show his mark in the background score too. Ramesh Kushendar's cinematography is ordinary and the production values are adequate. Writer-director Praneeth's story lacked any substance. We have a seen a lot of movies where multiple people try to get their hands on an idol or a bad of money. The movie takes inspiration from a lot of them and lacked originality. Praneeth's narration lacked seriousness and he failed during the comedy portions too. He disappointed the audience completely both as a writer and director.
Verdict: 'Bhaag Saale' - Run Away Fastly!
Rating : 1.5/5
