'Padesave' comes with a tagline 'an Akkineni Nagarjuna encouragement'. Nagarjuna's participation in promotional campaign created curiosity among the audience on this Youthful subject. Does 'Padesave' have necessary ingredients to set the cash registers ringing?
Synopsis:
Karthik (Satya Karthik) and Niharika (Nithya Shetty) are childhood friends. While Niharika loves Karthik, Karthik treats Niharika just as a dear Friend. At this juncture, Karthik meets Niharika's Friend Swathi (Zahida Saan) and falls in love with her. But, Swathi was already engaged to someone else by that time. How this triangular love story ends forms the rest of the tale!
Performances:
Satya Karthik failed to impress and he needs to work a lot on his expressions. None of the Two Heroines (Nithya Shetty, Zahida Saan) impress with glamour but they did perform well. Nithya Shetty reminds us of Colors Swathi in a lot of ways. Zahida Saan steals the show in few scenes.
Comedy by Vishwa tickles the funny bone. Ali and Krishnudu were wasted. Naresh and Anitha Chowdary as Hero's Parents did justice to their roles.
Pros:
Music
Comedy
Production Values
Cons:
Story
Screenplay
Direction
Technicalities:
Technically 'Padesave' is a decent fare. Music by Anup Rubens is the major asset. While Songs were pretty good, BGM is alright. Cinematography by Kanna is good. Production Values were rich. Dialogues by Kiran are adequate. Chuniya who proved her mettle on small screen with 'Yuva' failed as a feature film director. All she tried to do is rely heavily on so-so comedy, with little focus on story/screenplay.
Analysis:
Just because Nagarjuna promoted the movie aggressively doesn't mean 'Padesave' is so special. This film reminds us of the fact that Nag delivered not only blockbusters like 'Soggade Chinni Nayana' but also disasters like 'Bhai'.
Triangular love stories like 'Padesave' weren't new in TFI. What makes it look worse is the poor screenplay. Earlier, Chuniya directed an impressive tele serial 'Yuva' which was aired on MAA TV. She, however, was unable to leave a mark of her own on a larger platform. Routine Story, Predictable Screenplay & Lack of Hilarious Comedy blocks worked against the movie.
Telugu Movie Buffs have seen 10s of such triangular love stories already. It really needs no brilliance to guess whom Hero would marry in the climax. As a result, Audience don't connect with the emotional drama in the latter half.
Good Music, Few Funny Sequences and Rich Production Values are the only positives of 'Padesave'. This love story have every chance of sinking at the Box Office.
Bottom Line: Even Nag can't save it!
