After delivering a dud with 'Genius', Omkar preferred the most successful Horror-Comedy genre to bounce back. Even though entire shoot of 'Raju Gari Gadhi' was completed without any publicity gimmicks, He succeeded in building the buzz prior to the release with promos featuring many celebrities and capitalised on the postponement of 'Akhil'. Will Omkar achieve the recognition as promising filmmaker with the new outing?
Synopsis:
At least, 30 People gets killed in the Palace located at Nandigama and this becomes a sensation across the state, prompting Government to seize it. MAA TV plans a Reality Game Show 'Deyyam Tho 7 Rojulu...Gelisthe 3 Kotlu' which is based on the Palace haunted by ghost for TRP Ratings. Dr. Nandan (Chetan Cheenu), Ashwin Babu (Ashwin), Bala Tripura Sundari (Dhanya Balakrishna), Barbi (Eesanya), Bujjima (Vidyulekha Raman), Guntur Sivudu (Dhanraj) and YV Danam (Shakalaka Shankar) agrees to spend 7 days in the Palace equipped with CCTV Cameras. Does Ghost really exist in the Palace? Who killed the 30-odd people in the Palace? Has the 7 People chased the mystery? Find the answers in theaters!
Performances:
Chetan Cheenu's Performance in a role with two shades is good. Dhanya Balakrishna acted well but the dubbing for her role in Telangana dialect looks completely misfit. Omkar's Brother Ashwin Babu who is the hero of this story proves that he is a terrible actor. Eesanya impresses with glamour show. Poorna appears as a Ghost and she is perfect for the role.
Shakalaka Shankar and Dhanraj are the real heroes of 'Raju Gari Gadhi'. They kept the proceedings entertaining till the first half-hour of Second Half. Shakalaka Shankar's Bathroom sequence is hilarious & Dhanra's Guntur dialect is worth mentioning. Saptagiri keeps the audience in splits in the single sequence he appears. Even Vidyulekha Raman's acting & dialogue delivery were entertaining. Posani wasn't utilised properly.
Pros:
Comedy
First Half
Cons:
Omkar's Brother
Editing
Last 30 Minutes
Technicalities:
Sai Kartheek's Background Score is quite impressive. Picturization of Songs were decent. Inspite of limited budget, Cinematographer S Gnanam succeeded in offering rich visuals. Art Work by Saahi Suresh is good, especially the Palace set. Sai Madhav Burra's dialogues were meaningful. Graphics were sub-standard. Editing could have been better in horror sequences. Production Values are satisfactory.
Analysis:
Film Making is one of the toughest jobs and Omkar might have realised it after the disastrous result of 'Genius'. For 'Raju Gari Gadhi', He had a perfect plan (Successful Genre, Limited Budget & Good Casting except Ashwin Babu) to prove his mettle as a filmmaker. So, The end result will be certainly better than 'Genius' for sure and the Box Office prospects look promising to some extent.
Till Half-an-Hour Post Interval, Audience enjoy the 'Horror-Comedy' experience and they get the feeling Omkar has done justice to every rupee spent on the project. He raises the curiosity by revealing a bit about Ashwin Babu's past but Omkar lost the track soon after the actual story began. After the main twist was revealed, Director was unsure about how to end the film and that's the biggest drawback. Omkar's plan to promote his brother as a Hero Material with scenes offering scope for performance & inclusion of action sequence costed the film to some extent.
Omkar did succeed in Horror-Comedy sequences but the narration isn't gripping. Illogical Scenes and the hurried Climax were a letdown. On a whole, 'Rau Gari Gadhi' is a decent horror-comedy you may give it a try this Weekend..!
Bottom Line: Omkar Annayya's Comic Relief!!
