Ram is a bundle of talent and there will be no one to object this statement. However, His choice of scripts haven't been impressive especially post 'Kandireega' and hence the lean patch. 'Shivam' and 'Hari Katha' were the two Scripts Ram believed a lot. In addition, Sravanthi Movies completed 30 Years journey this year. So, there are good expectations on 'Shivam'. Has the content lived up to the hype?
Synopsis:
Shiva (Ram) advocates Love Marriage and succeeds in successfully uniting 111 lovers against the wishes of their parents. In the process, He ends up increasing the count of his enemies. One fine day, Shiva happen to meet Tanuja (Rashi Khanna) and its love at first sight for him. Things go terribly wrong when Shiva gets kidnapped by Bhoj Reddy (Vineet Kumar) and Abhi, a businessman, runs away with Tanuja. Was Shiva able to win the heart of his Soulmate?
Performances:
Ram plays a tailor-made role and he does a fine job. He tried his best to save the film with his energetic performance. He, however, need to be more cautious about the choice of scripts.
Rashi Khanna looks gorgeous and her chemistry with Ram is quite good. The glamour treat this Delhi Babe offers will be appreciated but she need to work a bit on her dialogue delivery.
Abhimanyu Singh does play his part well. Vineet is okay in a negative role. Brahmanandam couldn't invoke laughter. Posani is fine. Sreenivas Reddy generates few laughs. Saptagiri and Prabhas Seenu are wasted.
Pros:
Songs
Cinematography
Few Comic Blocks
Cons:
Concept
Direction
Run Time (168 minutes)
Technicalities:
Music by Devi Sri Prasad is fairly good enough. While two songs were hummable, background score is ordinary. Camera Work by Rasool Yellore is the best element in 'Shivam', especially songs looked so colorful. 'Shivam' is a kind of film we don't expect from a debutante. Sreenivas Reddy committed a blunder by choosing a routine commercial subject for his launch. Production Values have been rich.
Analysis:
In one of his recent interviews, Ram claimed he is preferring routine entertainers as all of his experimental flicks have bombed. May be, Pandaga Chesko's pretty reasonable Box Office performance might have encouraged this Energetic Star to attempt a routine yet illogical subject like 'Shivam'.
Taking Cinematic Liberties can't be complained, but many scenes in 'Shivam' are outright silly. This include the love track and the confrontation scenes between hero & villain. The film neither have a nice concept nor taut screenplay to make the proceedings interesting. One more biggest setback is the lengthy run time of 2 hr 48 min. Except for good looking Lead Pair, Nicely Picturized Songs and Few Comedy Blocks, 'Shivam' has nothing much to offer and one has to be patient to wait till the climax after thronging theater.
In a span of 30 Years, Sravanthi Movies has delivered many memorable films. Can't believe how someone like Sravanthi Ravi Kishore came up with such terrible product. Being a seasoned producer, He should have raised objection to at least some of the illogical sequences and excess length.
Bottomline: Tad Too Boring!!
