Students go abroad for higher studies with a lot of hope. There are vast opportunities and students get exposure to various issues. They can also land a job in hand while studying to make ends meet. All these reasons play a key role in guiding the students abroad.

It is not a secret that Indians make up a big portion of foreign students in many nations while the US is their preferred destination. But things are not going well with Indian students living in the US for some time.

In just one week three Indian students were found dead. With the unfortunate incidents coming out at regular intervals, there are many fears among the Indian community.

Now shocking data has come out which says that 403 students passed away abroad in the past five years. These incidents have been recorded since 2018. In response to a question, the Parliament gave the data. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar quoted the numbers. TDP MP Galla Jayadev asked the question. In response, Jaishankar said that since 2018, 403 Indian students have died abroad due to various reasons.

Canada which has been seeing a big jump in the incoming of Indian students of late is at the top place with the deaths. In Canada, as many as 91 people died followed by the United Kingdom(48), Russia(40), the United States(36), Australia(35), Ukraine(20), Germany(20), Cyprus(14), Philippines(10) and Italy.

The reasons for the deaths include murders, attacks, natural causes, and others. The Russia-Ukraine war led to the deaths of Indians. War is not in our hands and when the war was going on, Indians also died.

Hate crimes can also be cited as one of the reasons behind the deaths in these countries. Earlier we have seen how Indians were targeted on purpose.
