Something on these lines has happened with a Telugu man who is now facing serious charges for scamming DoorDash for shocking amount of money.
Sayee Chaitanya Reddy Devagiri, a 30-year-old from Newport Beach, California, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, admitting to defrauding DoorDash of over $2.5 million between 2020 and 2021. He exploited customer accounts to place high-value orders and used employee credentials to reroute these to driver accounts he controlled.
These fake deliveries were marked as completed, triggering payments for services never rendered. The process, taking under five minutes per order, was repeated hundreds of times. Two co-defendants have also pleaded guilty.
Now that the details of the scam are clearly established, Devagiri faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, with sentencing set for September 16.
This is a pretty significant financial scam with regard to the financial operations in the United States, and this man could not be facing a significant amount of time in jail for these actions.
