According to the latest communication made by the United States, Department of Justice, 2 Indian men and particularly Telugu individuals are caught in a H1B scam that has started to unfold.
Two California men pleaded guilty this week to H-1B visa fraud after claiming foreign workers would get jobs at the University of California. Sampath Rajidi and Sreedhar Mada, both 51-year-old Dublin residents, submitted their pleas Thursday.
The shocking thing here is that both these men pleaded guilt to conspiracy to commit visa fraud, U.S. Attorney Eric Grant announced. This is a pretty serious visa fraud in the United States and can come with the consequences. Both these men from India are now going to face a maximum statutory penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The final verdict on the same is expected to be out soon.
It’s being reported by reputed media channels that Sampath operated S-Team Software Inc. and Uptrend Technologies LLC, while Sreedhar assisted in the scheme involving misuse of H1B visa petitions for temporary worker placements.
The United States administration has been repeatedly making it very clear that visa fraud will be dealt with great consequences. But the Indian community still continues to make a meal out of this, and it has to be seen what kind of consequences would be observed now.
