By: Tupaki Desk | 19 Jan 2026 6:28 PM ISTIt is already known that the United States authorities had imposed a permanent visa freeze on 75 countries. It is being established that the United States authorities are taking additional measures to keep away the migrants.
Starting January 21, 2026, Bangladeshi nationals approved for US B1 or B2 visas will be required to pay a security bond that can go up to 15,000 dollars. The new rule applies to business and tourist visas issued on or after the effective date and is aimed at ensuring visitors strictly follow visa conditions during their stay in the United States.
According to officials, the bond will be collected only after a visa is approved. Applicants who already hold a valid B1 or B2 visa issued before January 21, 2026, are exempt from the requirement and can continue to travel under existing rules.
US authorities have issued a clear warning against paying any bond amount in advance. Payments made before the visa interview do not increase the chances of approval and are not refundable. Applicants are also being cautioned against third party websites or agents claiming to facilitate bond payments, as several such platforms could be scams.
The bond will be returned once the traveler complies with all visa terms, including leaving the US within the permitted period. For now, this regulation will be in effect only for Bangladeshi individuals, and it has to be seen if this would be extended to other countries, including India.
