The volume of the Indian population travelling to the United States has been shooting to massively over the last few years. But things are not going smoothly in the recent toast.

In a video filmed at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. has triggered widespread criticism online after it showed a couple of Indian visitors performing a dance routine for social media at the historic site. The memorial, located on the National Mall, honours the millions who served and died during the World War II and is considered one of the most solemn landmarks in the United States.

The short video, reportedly created for a TikTok style reel, shows the pair dancing and posing in front of the memorial’s fountains and pillars. While the clip may have been intended as a casual social media post, many viewers in the United States reacted strongly, arguing that the location demands dignity and respect.

Several social media users said memorials dedicated to fallen soldiers should not be used as backdrops for entertainment content. Critics described the act as insensitive, noting that the site represents the sacrifice of more than 400,000 Americans who lost their lives during the war.

The backlash quickly spread across platforms, with many Americans expressing frustration over what they viewed as inappropriate behaviour at a national memorial. Some comments also reflected a broader debate about social media culture and the growing trend of filming dance videos at historically significant locations.

The incident has reignited conversations about responsible tourism and the need for visitors to understand the historical and emotional significance of places like the World War II Memorial.
